The Why

To bring a collective voice to issues related to patient access to and affordability of prescription medications in Louisiana, Moore developed the Patient Access for LA coalition, engaging physician, patient and business organizations.

During Louisiana’s 2018 legislative session, patient savings legislation was introduced to ensure billions in negotiated discounts and rebates that biopharmaceutical companies pay to pharmacy benefit managers are passed on to patients in out-of-pocket cost savings at the pharmacy counter.

IMPLEMENTATION

Moore worked with the Patient Access for LA coalition to lead a campaign in support of this important legislation, as it was the first-of-its-kind nationally and required a significant amount of groundwork and education to ensure the complex issue and its impact was understood by all stakeholders.

Through this campaign, Moore activated each coalition stakeholder group and launched a targeted digital and media relations effort to ensure the urgency of this issue resonated with key influencers and lawmakers during a legislative session crowded with other prescription drug policy proposals.

The Results

Moore helped support unanimous passage of the patient savings legislation into law.
