Maria came to the United States from Medellin, Colombia, when she was just 18 years old to attend college in New York City. That experience, she says, taught her that “I don’t expect people to give me things. I have to go and pursue them.”
Maria now applies that initiative and drive to her work with Moore in West Palm Beach. She has been part of the team since April 2016, when she was hired as an intern and later on a part-time basis while completing her master’s degree. Maria’s colleagues call her the “multi-tasking queen.” She handles everything with poise and positive energy.
“It takes a lot of time management, coffee and just keeping everything organized, but I enjoy all that I am doing right now,” she said.
After attending college in NYC for a year, Maria transferred to Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, and discovered Moore during a career fair. She has a bachelor’s degree in communication and emerging media and recently completed her master’s in communication with an emphasis on media studies and practices.
Maria has worked with clients including Ford Hispanic, Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience, the National Family Partnership’s Red Ribbon Week and Merrill Lynch. Her skills include media relations, event planning and coordination and communication strategy. She was recently part of a team that helped a client secure more than 171 media clips in a single month!
Away from the office, Maria enjoys disconnecting from the world with a good mystery or fantasy book, exploring the best places for brunch and spending time with her family.
