When school ends, food insecurity spikes. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) needed to reach families statewide with information about free summer meals for students 18 and under—across communities, languages, and connectivity levels, including families without reliable internet access.

Insight

Families trust neighborhood voices such as schools, community organizations, and local leaders. Summer BreakSpot couldn’t feel like a government service. It needed to feel like a neighborhood resource, delivered through familiar messengers in the languages families spoke.

Turning a state program into a neighborhood movement

Moore and FDACS activated partners across 13 markets, engaging community organizations and schools to distribute bilingual materials in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. Mobile-first paid media through Meta, Demand Gen, and paid email reached families where they were, while a new website map allowed one-click site location. Community events and radio outreach reached families without broadband. Across Florida, families encountered Summer BreakSpot through neighborhood partners, school emails, local radio, and community festivals, reminding families help was next door.

The campaign became more than a call to action; it became a lifeline. From Chiefland to Miami, families encountered Summer BreakSpot through neighborhood partners, school emails, local radio, and community events. Parents shared flyers, teens used the online map to locate nearby sites, and local organizations proudly displayed posters at libraries, daycares, and gardens. By weaving a safety net of information through trusted messengers, FDACS transformed outreach into community, reminding families that help wasn’t far, it was next door.
