Challenge

When distance learning became the new normal, middle school students faced disruption not only in their routines but also their curiosity. PhRMA sought a way to keep young minds engaged in STEM education and career exploration.

Insight

Middle schoolers are at a critical decision point for STEM interest, but distance learning posed engagement challenges. Interactive, age-appropriate digital content could spark curiosity and maintain engagement if it also came with turnkey classroom tools that made it easy for teachers to use.

Turning a global moment into a classroom catalyst

Moore and PhRMA developed an integrated distance-learning curriculum centered on real-world science. Anchored by an animated video and supported by bilingual lesson plans, the program brought STEM to life through the lens of timely public health topics. Educators quickly adopted the instruction, which required no additional preparation and blended clear instruction with creative storytelling, including humor and dynamic visuals.
